Behind your cooler ride

Coolway compares Dubai routes returned by a routing service. It cannot guarantee the coldest possible route.

Weather & wind Live when available

Open-Meteo supplies current air temperature, apparent temperature, wind direction, wind speed and gusts at five equally spaced points per route. These are weather-model estimates, not street sensors or the wind felt while riding.

Dubai environmental mapping Live when available

OpenStreetMap parks, gardens, woodland, and water features are checked at 25 equally spaced route points. “Green surroundings” and waterfront candidates mean mapped proximity; neither proves shade or a street-level cooling effect. Coverage may be incomplete.

Cool Zones Candidate areas

Coolway flags route stretches near mapped greenery or water and, when the weather model supports it, stretches with air temperatures at least 2°C below the route average. A 10 m wind reading does not prove a street-level breeze. A zone becomes “verified” only after repeated on-site air and apparent-temperature readings show a meaningful difference from nearby exposed streets at similar times. No candidate is a guaranteed cooling spot.

How routes are compared

The score favors lower air temperatures. Your Cool Zones preference adds up to 2 ranking points for candidate coverage. Candidate coverage is approximate and may overlap. Your tree preference adds up to 4 ranking points for mapped greenery; the wind preference penalizes gusts above 30 km/h. Connected Google traffic adds a delay penalty. Points are a heuristic, not degrees of cooling. Missing factors are omitted for all routes in that comparison.

Navigation apps may choose a different route when opened. This planner does not provide turn-by-turn navigation.
